5 Traditional Holiday Cocktails Made Low-Carb

Addition Collaborator

The best part of the holiday season is getting together with all of those you love. And that is usually centered around food, drinks, and tradition. Unfortunately, food traditions tend to be very high in carbs. With a few simple swaps though, we can at least help you enjoy your favorite traditional low carb holiday cocktails with these keto drinks.

SPIKED HOT CHOCOLATE

Hot chocolate is so easy to make. You will have no need for the powdered hot chocolate mixes ever again. This is a great recipe for everyone in the family. Just hold off on the bourbon for the adult holiday party. This recipe was inspired by Bon Appetit and All Day I Dream About Food.

INGREDIENTS

Serves 4

3 cups almond milk (unsweetened)
1 cup heavy cream
4 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tablespoons Swerve granular sweetener
Pinch of kosher salt
½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 ounces bourbon

Whipped cream, sweetened with Swerve to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

1. In a medium sauce pan, whisk together almond milk, cream, cocoa powder, Swerve, salt, and cinnamon, over medium heat.

2. Whisk until completely combined, about 5 minutes, and hot.

3. Pour through a fine-mesh sieve to catch any pieces of cocoa that may not have been mixed into a large pouring glass. Add in the bourbon.

    EGGNOG

I've never really liked eggnog growing up. It was too sweet for me. But this eggnog recipe is the perfect blend of creaminess from the eggs, warmth from the spices, and not at all too sweet. You will love it! This recipe was inspired by All Recipes

    INGREDIENTS

    Serves 4

1 1/3 cups almond milk (unsweetened)
    2 whole cloves
    1/8 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp cinnamon
    4 egg yolks
    1/2 cup Swerve granular sweetener
    1 cup light rum
1 1/2 cups half and half
    3/4 tsp vanilla extract
    1/8 tsp nutmeg

    INSTRUCTIONS

     1. Combine the milk, cloves, vanilla, and cinnamon together in a medium saucepan. Place over low heat for a few minutes, and slowly bring the mixture up to a boil.

    2. In a bowl, combine the egg yolks and sugar together. Whisk until the yolks lighten in color. Slowly whisk hot mixture into the eggs. Make sure you whisk as you pour, and pour very slowly. Pour mixture back into saucepan. Don't allow mixture to boil.

    3. Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps and the cloves, into a bowl. Let cool for about an hour.

    4. Add the rum, half and half, vanilla, and nutmeg. Refrigerate overnight before you serve.
