To be more specific, he followed a personalized keto diet plan for a total of 67 days as somewhat of a personal challenge. He began by cutting out the carbs he typically ate on a daily basis, eating both more fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. Additionally, he shifted his focus from his typical diet to a diet made up of meat, fish, vegetables, and fruits. Even before he made it public that he practiced the keto diet, fans and common folk alike began noticing the weight loss and healthy physique and skinny body. In the end, Lebron James ended up losing a bunch of weight by completely cutting out both carbs and dairy from his daily diet.  

Tim Tebow 

While Lebron James has had great success on the keto diet, he is not the only athlete to practice this diet with noticeable success. In fact, professional athlete Tim Tebow has been seen recently flaunting his incredible results from the keto diet. During an interview, Tim Tebow was quoted saying, “I’m on something called a ketogenic diet, which is high fat, moderate protein, low carb, low sugar.” According to close friends and photographers, Tim Tebow is the champion of all things avocado. In fact, a photograph of him consuming guacamole straight from the container recently surfaced on Twitter. For those who do now know, avocado is one of the best things you can consume on the keto diet—therefore, Tim Tebow is more than ahead of the curve. 

Chris Froome 

Chris Froome may not be out in the spotlight as much as Tim Tebow and Lebron James, however, he is a three-time Tour De France champion, which, by the way, is nothing to sneer at. The training and preparation that goes into a performance like that are unbelievable. Anyway, when Chris Froome joined the professional ranks of bikers, he weighed approximately 167 pounds. After he took on the keto diet however, he has been cited as weighing a light 147 pounds. When it comes to cycling and the keto diet, this provides Chris with a major advantage. At the age of 31, his power-to-weight ratio which is used to determine an athletes performance is approximately 6.25w/kg. This just happens to be the envy of just about every cyclist in the world. As you can see, the keto diet more than works for almost anyone who gives it a go—even those with physical ailments such as diabetes. 

The Keto Diet and Athletic Performance 

As it turns out, the keto or low-carb, high-fat diet may actually help athletic endurance that allows them to ultimately play and perform with a greater rate of success. While this is not true for all athletes as going keto has the potential of hurting a runner’s performance. However, this is really only true for those who sprint professionally. Ultimately, the keto diet is not only used for weight loss. In fact, there are many endurance athletes that turn to this low-carb type diet in order to inevitably increase their overall performance.  

Researchers at Saint Louis University actually studied the exercise of 16 women and men practicing either a low-carb or keto diet for a total of four days. Overall, for sprint athletes, their workouts were much less effective and successful than those taking in increased amounts of carbs. However, there are many athletes out there including Lebron James who follow the diet with great success. In the end, the keto diet works for the majority of those who decide to give it a go.
